while i was googling, the related searches were:

  • is there carrots in carrot cake
  • why is carrot cake called carrot cake
  • carrot cake fun facts
  • carrot cake description on menu
  • what does carrot cake taste like

Cranberry Pumpkin Gingerbread Muffins

IMG_4152

Okay, not going to lie, I was hoping I’d end 2015 with a bang or at least make some celebratory Christmassy fancy holiday chestnut buche de noel (I even have the heavy cream sitting in my fridge), but instead I present you guys with some more boring muffins, my specialty, haha……..

I do have a good reason though, I have a special friend whom I met briefly while interning/volunteering last summer, and even though we traveled togetherĀ for two or three days, we really connected well and life has a funny way of bringing people back together again. Anyway, she stopped by Vancouver after her exchange over in New Brunswick (lol) was finished, and it’s been a really action packed week, as it’s got to be when you’re trying to show someone the highlights of your home city.

After exams were over, my main preoccupations were working/volunteering, catching up with old friends, baking, and of course, revamping my blog. Besides updating posts that I had drafted since summer (and I’m still not finished), I switched platforms, from blogger to wordpress. It’s been a relatively smooth switch, but I didn’t know wordpress.com didn’t let you change the coding of a theme. Which is unnerving, but at least I can manually change the font of each post by the text editor option.

And in other, more exciting news… I bought my first DSLR (Canon t5i) on Black Friday. I’m sort of technologically challenged/jinxed. Given my history of dropping/spilling things on my laptop, breaking things accidentally, and just being a klutz in general, I honestly was too afraid to even open the box until after exam season, when I would have more time to figure it out (ie. struggle with the instruction manual). Putting in the lens was an ordeal in itself, really.

Thanksgiving Carrot Cake

*Let’s play a fun game where we pretend Colleen didn’t forget to publish this post she had drafted weeks earlier! Yeah, I know, I love that game too, try to contain your excitement.*Ā
We’re heading into the pre-holiday, pre-finals season, and I can sense everyone’s energy waning. And lately, all I’ve been wanting to do is sleep, and I fall asleep on the bus and skytrain just like that. Usually I try to stay productive, but most of the time really, I’m just staring blankly at my notes. Although maybe that’s just my body trying to master the art of sleeping with your eyes open. Good job body, keep it up.
Even though it’s been a while since I last wrote, not much has happened. Like actually, not a lot. I mean, school/work/commute life is the same as it has always been.
